Clarivate Analytics announced its 2025 “Top 100 Global Innovators” report yesterday (12th). Under the support of the Department of Industrial Technology of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, ITRI has continuously produced abundant R&D results and high-quality patents, leading to its ninth win and eighth consecutive year of receiving the Global Top 100 Innovators Award.

In addition to ITRI, 12 Taiwanese enterprises were also included in this year’s “Top 100 Global Innovators,” including Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) (2317), MediaTek, Quanta Computer, TSMC, AU Optronics, Delta Electronics, Wistron, Realtek Semiconductor, Nanya Technology, Winbond Electronics, ASUS, and Coretronic. The total number of Taiwanese entries reached a new high.

Most notably, only three research institutions worldwide were selected this year, and ITRI is not only one of them but also continues to hold the record for the most awards among research institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. Its innovative achievements are on par with internationally renowned institutions such as Mitsubishi Electric, Toshiba, Qualcomm, Dow Chemical, and Philips. Internationally renowned institutions that have been selected for this award in the past include high-tech giants like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft.

The report also pointed out that ITRI demonstrated outstanding R&D capabilities in five major patent indicators: technical uniqueness, influence, globalization, success footprint, and quantity.

Clarivate’s Top 100 Global Innovators report has long proactively analyzed the innovation capabilities of global companies or institutions through patent data. It uses scientific patent indicators for evaluation to recognize top institutions’ commitment to innovation and their demonstrated excellent creativity.

Gordon Samson, President of the Intellectual Property Group at Clarivate, stated that ITRI’s invention volume has grown 80 times since 2000. In today’s rapidly changing innovation landscape, being selected as a Global Top 100 Innovator is an extraordinary achievement. [2025-03-13 / Economic Daily News / Page A12]
