Pegavision Withdraws Patent Infringement Suit; Vizionfocus’s Shares Rise with a Smile

Contact lens manufacturer Vizionfocus (4771) stated that on the 12th it received notice that Pegavision (6491) had decided to voluntarily withdraw the patent infringement lawsuit it filed against Vizionfocus at the end of last year. Vizionfocus said it will continue to invest in R&D and technological innovation to drive the company’s sustainable development. Today (15th) the stock opened higher and rose to as high as NT$182 before narrowing gains to about 1%, with bulls and bears battling around NT$180.
In late December 2024, Pegavision filed a lawsuit claiming that Vizionfocus’s Rêmy and other contact lens products infringed its Taiwanese invention patent No. I671361, titled “Hydrogel Composition and Hydrogel Lenses Prepared Therefrom,” seeking NT$11.65 million in damages related to alleged infringement of patent-associated proprietary rights.
After more than six months, Vizionfocus received notice that Pegavision had decided to voluntarily withdraw the patent infringement suit against Vizionfocus. Vizionfocus emphasized that it recognizes the critical importance of intellectual property to corporate development and will continue to invest in R&D and technological innovation to advance the company’s sustainable development. The company also expressed gratitude for the support and trust of its customers, partners, and the public.
