IC design giant ELAN Microelectronics Corp. (2458) announced yesterday (17th) that it has filed a lawsuit against IC design company ILI Technology Corp. (ILITEK) and its distributor, NeoView Technology Inc., regarding the infringement of Republic of China (Taiwan) Invention Patent No. I380207. Simultaneously, ELAN withdrew a previous lawsuit filed in July of this year concerning Invention Patent No. I425402.
ILITEK had no immediate response regarding ELAN’s announcement of the litigation yesterday.
In July of this year, ELAN announced it was filing a patent lawsuit against ILITEK and its distributor, NeoView. At that time, ELAN stated it had discovered that capacitive touch chips manufactured and sold by ILITEK allegedly infringed upon ELAN’s invention patent rights. Based on the assessment of appointed patent attorneys, the capacitive touch chips in question fell within the scope of ELAN’s Invention Patent No. I425402. Consequently, a civil lawsuit for patent infringement was filed against ILITEK and NeoView in court.
